Pass Plus is a nationally recognised scheme to help newly qualified drivers gain valuable experience under the guidance of an Approved Driving Instructor (ADI). It was developed by the Driving Standards Agency with the help of insurers and driving instructors and candidates are required to complete six training modules in order to qualify for their certificate.

The Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM) runs several courses for all levels of drivers beginning with the Momentum assessment of young driver skills, progressing to the Skill for Life course which can ultimately lead to the motorist gaining their Advanced Driver accreditation.

Local Government initiatives
Many councils up and down the country run courses for drivers who want to improve their driving skills. For instance, Buckinghamshire County Council runs the Get in Gear scheme which aims to give newly qualified drivers the skills to cope with independent driving, whilst reducing their chances of being involved in a car accident.
