A report has revealed that motorists in the north of the UK are more likely to pay more for their car insurance than those in the South as insurance policies in the North have risen by more than three times the rate of inflation.

An insurance comparison website has released figures showing that motorists in Bradford have been subjected to the fastest rising insurance prices during 2011 with an increase of 17.1 percent – more than 13 percent higher than the national average.
Other areas facing rising costs are Oldham, which saw an increase of 14.8 percent, and Manchester where costs went up by 14.4 percent.
It has also been revealed that the average cost of annual cover across all motoring groups was £844 in 2011 which is an increase of 4.9 percent to the year before.
Motorists opting for third party, fire and theft cover were subjected to the biggest increases, with average annual cover costing £1,162.
