Women driver news - Car horn use of buyers of car insurance for women and men
Car insurance news - Car horns misused by drivers
Although all motorists should be aware that a car horn must only be used to warn other drivers of their presence on the road in hazardous situations, new research conducted by Onepoll on behalf of webuyanycar.com shows that many road users are not aware of The Highway Code rules relating to vehicle horn use.
Apparently, of the 2,000 men and woman drivers surveyed, 52% use their car horn when other motorists pull out in front of them, 51% beep at road users who remain stationary at green lights, and only 29% of motorists used their horn solely for the correct purpose.
The Highway Code states that a vehicle's horn should only be used "while [a] vehicle is moving and [a driver] need[s] to warn other road users of [their] presence." It continues by saying that buyers of car insurance for women and men should never sound a car horn ‘aggressively', while stationary on the road, or when in a built up area from 11:30pm to 7:00am unless another road user poses a danger.
With this in mind, it is worrying that 51% of those polled believed that the horn could only be used in daylight, 6% thought that it should only be used to express anger, and 3% said its primary function was to signal to someone they know.
Buyers of car insurance for women and men should be aware that misuse of a car horn is a traffic offence and not only intimidates other road users and irritates people who live near highways but it can also result in a fixed penalty notice.
