Car insurance quote news - Police warn drivers about car thieves
Police in Cheshire have warned drivers to be vigilant following the theft of three cars during one morning. Motorists who have accepted a car insurance quote have been encouraged to refrain from leaving keys in the car's ignition while attempting to warm up the vehicle.
Many drivers leave their car engines running while they wait for their windscreens to defrost, however, opportunistic thieves have been targeting these vehicles which are often left on residents driveways.
Police have advised motorists to never leave keys in their cars and to always lock their car doors, even if they are only leaving the vehicle on their driveway for a few minutes.
Drivers have also been strongly encouraged to clear their windscreens before they set off as drivers who can only see through a section of their windscreen pose a danger to other road users and pedestrians.
DCI Roberts said, "The sensible approach is to allow an extra few minutes to defrost and stay with the vehicle while it warms up. Alternatively, use a de-icer spray and windscreen scraper to clear your windows."
Motorists who have chosen a car insurance quote from a telematics car insurance provider may be able to track a stolen vehicle with the telematics technology.
