Insurance quotes news - Post-Christmas traffic brings cars to stand still
Car insurance quote news - Motorways congested following Christmas break
Many UK roads became subjected to severe congestion two days after Christmas, according to reports – it is thought that the traffic was caused by people travelling to work or returning home following the Christmas break.
Among the roads which showed the worst congestion were the M25, which had queues stretching for more than 30 miles at one point, the M1 in Leicestershire, the M60 and the M62.

A spokesperson for the Highways Agency said, "We are seeing traffic levels on motorways and major A-roads increase after the Christmas break."
He added that the organisation was doing its best to clear the congested routes as quickly as possible.
A spokesperson for the AA said their recovery service was usually called out for numerous breakdowns following the Christmas break.
Motorists who find themselves in stationary traffic can save money on fuel by turning off their car engine when queues are not moving, and may also be able to reduce the prices of their car insurance quotes by opting for a low-mileage insurance policy.
