Young driver news - Teenager gets first time car insurance on larger scale
New licence news - Kent youth has a little more than first time car insurance
Many young drivers with first time car insurance might be nervous when they initially get behind the wheel of their first vehicle, but one 18-year-old young driver is feeling positive and looking forward to using his peculiar new licence.
The teenager, from Thanet in Kent, is now the youngest HGV driver in Britain.
He passed his practical class one test at the first time of asking – doing it in the memory of his brother who was the victim of a road traffic accident involving a lorry, which occurred while he was cycling to work in February 2010.
The new driver used money left to him from his brother's life insurance policy to take the HGV course, and stated, "I was really glad when I passed first time. It is something I have wanted to do for such a long time. I could never have done it without my brother's help.
"I want to get a couple of years experience in Europe but then I hope to drive a lorry in America and Canada," he added.
HGVs are the largest articulated lorries in the UK and many first time car insurance buyers are probably pleased that they don't have to control such a big vehicle.
Whatever the motor, passing first time is a great achievement but also comes with new responsibilities which young drivers must remain aware of whenever they are on the road.
