Telematics insurance news - GPS car insurance may be best choice upon renewal
Car insurance news - GPS car insurance may be best deal for some motorists
Although some road users who have GPS car insurance may not need to look for a better deal on cover when approaching renewal time anymore, according to Gocompare.com the number of motorists who regularly switch from one car insurance provider to another has increased by 50% in the past two years.
Only 22% of drivers changed insurer in 2009, but in October this year the figure had increased to 34%.
Reportedly, 24.6% of people in the UK now habitually check whether they have the best deal on various financial products such as car insurance, energy providers and bank accounts.
Gocompare.com's business development director states, "Our research shows a significant change in consumer behaviour towards their car insurer. More drivers than ever are realising that the best way to save money on their car insurance is to compare their premium at every renewal."
Some young or low mileage drivers looking for the best deal on cover may find that a telematics car insurance policy suits their motoring habits and saves them the most money on their annual premium.
These policies are relatively new to the car insurance market and without conducting research and comparisons leading up to renewal, the potential savings gained from taking out GPS car insurance policy could be missed by some drivers.
Surprisingly, Gocompare.com's survey found that 13% of road users have never switched car insurer. These motorists may be paying more for their insurance than they need to and might be surprised by how much less other companies quote them if they take the time to compare cover.
