Low mileage insurance news - Londoners save money with eco-friendly cars
Motor cover news - Low mileage insurance for eco-friendly drivers
London's motorists are the most environmentally responsible car owners in Britain, new research has revealed, and, as such, might also be able to save money by taking out low mileage insurance from a company which uses telematics technology.
The people behind EcoVelocity, the Low Carbon Motor Festival, found that, according to vehicle registration data from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), of the ten UK postal areas with the highest proportion of registered eco-friendly cars – with CO2 emissions under 100g/km – nine were London boroughs.
The only area outside London to appear in the highest ten ranking places was Portsmouth.
Nationwide, the South East topped the regional rankings for the highest percentage of eco-vehicles registered to date at 4.3% – the next highest being Yorkshire and Humberside with 3.6%.
However, motoring experts have suggested that the reason behind the higher number of "green" cars owned by Londoners and drivers from the South East is possibly due to the fact that they are exempt from the congestion charge in the capital. The choice may therefore be a financial one and not guided by environmental concerns.
Londoners are not alone in wanting to save money at this present time and anyone who uses their car mainly for short commutes or city driving, wherever they are in the country, might benefit from investigating the cost of a low mileage insurance policy, such as those provided by insurethebox. With insurethebox, safe and responsible drivers are rewarded with great car insurance quotes and the possibility to earn Reward and Bonus Miles to help keep the cost of their motor cover as low as possible.
