Driver news - Car insurance for women holders apply make-up behind the wheel
Women's car insurance news - Women apply their make-up when driving
A study carried out by Diamond car insurance has revealed that a potential three and a half million holders of car insurance for women use their morning drive as an opportunity to apply their make-up.
In the survey 23% of women admitted to doing their make-up whilst driving, and 16% of these have been involved in a crash or near miss as a result.
Further, nearly half of female drivers confessed that they have checked a text message when they were behind the wheel and around a third have brushed their hair, eaten breakfast or drunk hot drinks.
Diamond gathered the information from a survey of 2,000 female car insurance policyholders.
Elwyn Gedrych, Diamond managing director, said, "It's shocking that quite so many women admit to doing these tasks while driving. We all have busy lives but applying your make-up, or checking emails when you're driving is dangerous as it means your full attention is not on the road ahead."
Gedrych stated that even if drivers are lucky enough to reach their destination safely, they risk being charged with careless driving if they are spotted by police.
Holders of car insurance for women should always stay focused on the road to avoid compromising their own and other road users' safety. Male drivers are also required to keep their attention on the road at all times – electric shaving behind the wheel is just as dangerous as applying make-up.
