Motorist news - Newly qualified driver car insurance holders' Honda Jazz recall
Any experienced motorists and all newly qualified driver car insurance holders whose first car is a Honda Jazz (2002-2008), are being warned of an imminent global recall of around 936,000 units of the model.
Reportedly the recall was initiated after problems with the driver's-side electric window switch units were brought to the manufacturer's attention.
Apparently there is a risk that they could melt and catch fire, although the firm has reassured road users that no one in the UK has been injured due to the vehicle fault.
Damage may occur if the switch's circuit-board is exposed to too much liquid, for example rain-water.
Newly qualified driver car insurance holders and older motorists who own the model in question may wish to contact Honda's Customer Relations department about the recall to be given more information about the actions they should take.
However, Honda plans to contact 171,372 owners of Jazz vehicles, including young drivers, to arrange a time at which an examination of the window switch can be undertaken.
The manufacturer has explained that not every recalled vehicle will need to undergo a repair, but those which do will have a waterproof skirt fitted along the window edge to prevent water entry. The firm has added that this will be done completely free of charge to the motorist.
