Car insurance for young drivers news - Carbon footprint
Car news - Car insurance for young drivers and fuel efficient vehicles
Any car insurance for young driver holders, and more experienced motorists, who try to drive ecologically to save money and help reduce their carbon footprint, may be pleased to hear the results of a new report by the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM).
The report says that although the amount of CO2 emissions from all UK road traffic increasing, emissions from cars has reduced.
Reportedly, due to the vast improvements made to the fuel economy of cars over the past ten years, motors are 25% more efficient than in the past and they now only generate 14% of all of Britain's carbon emissions.
As an example of how much more efficient cars have become the IAM has stated that although there are now four million more motor vehicles on the road compared to the year 2000, the emissions being created presently are slightly less than they were 11 years ago.
The IAM director of policy and research, Neil Greig, explained, "Despite what many green experts may say, Britain's drivers and the motoring industry are doing their bit to reduce carbon emissions.
"Drivers are shifting to greener engines and have embraced incentives like cheaper vehicle excise duty for more fuel efficient models.
"Manufacturers should also take credit for producing models across the range that are cleaner and greener. But driving style is crucial – the best fuel-saver is a light right foot and anticipation of the road ahead."
So, motorists who are unable to obtain a more eco-friendly vehicle, but who still want to do their bit for the environment, should instead try to drive in a more ecological fashion. Not only will this reduce their car's carbon emissions, it will usually mean that their driving habits become more positive which could lead to receiving cheaper car insurance quotes upon renewal with companies such as insurethebox.
New drivers, who are often charged a lot for their car insurance for young drivers could benefit from driving in this safer and more environmentally friendly way, especially if they insure with a company which uses telematics to determine policy renewal costs.
