Pay as you drive news - Green drivers may keep their no claims record intact
Environmentally conscientious motorists, and perhaps those with pay as you drive car insurance, are among those expected to take part in the MPG marathon in October.
This event is seen as a great opportunity for drivers to test the efficiency of their vehicles on UK roads.
The motorists will set off on a 380 mile round trip from the Four Pillars Hotel in Cirencester, and the driver who has used the least fuel will be deemed the winner.
The organisers have pointed out that motorists who adopt green driving practices during general motoring are unlikely to spend as much on car maintenance drivers who use techniques such as harsh braking and aggressive acceleration.
Eco-friendly drivers are also thought to be at a reduced risk of having accidents, which may lead to low mileage driver insurance claims.
A spokesperson for the Fleet World publication said, "With energy costs rising across the board, it's not surprising that motorists are increasingly looking for ways to get more miles out of every pound spent on fuel.
"The motor manufacturers have done a fantastic job of improving the fuel efficiency of their cars, but let's not overlook the fact that the use of certain smarter driving techniques can significantly reduce the amount of fuel used on a journey."
For many drivers keeping associated motoring costs as low as possible has become a priority, and pay as you drive car insurance combined with eco-driving techniques can help significantly I this endeavour.
