Tracker car insurance news - Cars seized by police sent to college in Essex
Insurance news - Seized cars without tracker or other insurance put to good use
Cars in Basildon which have been seized by police from drivers without a driving licence or car insurance , such as young driver or tracker car insurance, are being put to good use according to a news report.
Over the past three months 11 confiscated vehicles have been given to South Essex College to be used in mechanics classes.
The cars are being used to aid students in their work until the vehicles are eventually sent for scrapping. Seized cars are usually either sold or scrapped if they have not been claimed by their owners within 14 days.
PC Paul Barber, of Essex Police, said, "Because of the law [the seized cars] can never go back on the road, so it's ideal for the students here to use [them]."
"When you think of the cost of a reasonable car from a scrap yard, we are able now to take a little bit of that expense away from the college."
To prevent cars from being seized by police, all motorists must ensure that they have searched for a car insurance quote and taken out an appropriate policy, such as tracker car insurance or young driver insurance, before they take to the roads in their car.
