Insurance quote news - Advice from IAM for young driver car insurance holders
In order to help young driver car insurance holders, and more experienced road users, stay safe on UK roads when they use routes which take them through one or more of the country's traffic tunnels, a member of the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM) has provided motorists with some safety advice on the IAM Drive and Survive website.
Simon Elstow, the IAM head of training, has given drivers some important tips which should help them to avoid suffering a road traffic accident in a tunnel or help them evade personal injury should their car break down before the exit.
Some of the advice listed includes remembering to remove sunglasses before entering the tunnel, which is likely to be much darker than the road conditions outside, and using dipped headlights so as not to dazzle other motorists.
Importantly, Mr Elstow states, "Remember, if there is a fire or an accident, don't wait to act – fire and smoke can be fatal. Leave the vehicle and walk to a safe place."
By heeding the warnings and observing the safety tips provided by the IAM, experienced and young driver car insurance holders alike could avoid being involved in a crash, steer clear of personal injury, and aid themselves in receiving the cheapest car insurance quote possible for their individual circumstances.
