Car insurance for women and basic vehicle maintenance

Motorists with car insurance for women may be shocked to hear that a survey by the Men's Health Network in 2011, in partnership with Abbott Laboratories, showed that 70% of male drivers found it much easier to care for their car than their own health.

Moreover, 40% of men were more likely to take action against their vehicle's mechanical problems than their own health problems.

This is likely to have had some connection to the statistic that 56% of women worried about their partner's health more than their own.

Although this survey may be worrying from a health perspective, it is positive from a vehicle maintenance perspective.

Castrol, an oil company, conducted research in March 2011 which revealed that a reported four million road users in Britain did not even know how to open their car's bonnet.

Furthermore, only one in eight motorists, including road users with womens car insurance, knew how to correctly check their tyres, or top-up the water or oil in their vehicle, all of which are basic maintenance skills that every driver should possess in order to reduce their risk of suffering an accident or breakdown

Motoring expert, Quentin Willson, said at the time of the report, "The real shame is that this decline in basic maintenance knowledge marks an end of the proud British tradition of tinkering under the bonnet.

"Those who ignore the basics, or don't even bother to get their car serviced, should realise that this is a false economy – both with their time and money.

"A new engine can be an expensive proposition but basic and easy maintenance tasks can ensure this does not happen."

Although the newest research seems to show that the art of caring for a vehicle has not died out completely, any motorists who feel unsure about the correct procedures when it comes to changing the oil, or a tyre, may want to enrol in a car maintenance course to brush up on their knowledge.

Oh, and also if you're experiencing health problems – go to a doctor.
