Job Purpose

  • Manage and control accidental damage, third party and total loss spend for your own case load contributing to the overall claims financial performance.
  • Ensure cases managed are handled within agreed service levels, adhere to principles of Treating Customers Fairly and agreed processes.
  • Manage referrals and provide technical guidance on engineering matters to the claims teams

Key Result Areas

  • Manage and control accidental damage, third party and total loss spend for your own case load contributing to the overall claims financial performance.
  • Identifying potential fraudulent cases and referring to internal investigation unit as they arise, along with any non-standard fitments to customer vehicles that have not been advised of and that all damage claimed for is consistent with the accident circumstances.
  • Having confidence in using the claims systems to the full, and dealing with any matters as they arise within the claims function. This includes accidental damage and third party repair authorisation on Glassmatix and Audatex.
  • Resolution of accidental damage and third party Total Loss settlements, disputes, preparing disputed cases for presentation to the complaints team and FOS, valuations, damage splits, complaint cases, new car replacements, carrying out consistency reports and dealing with Diminution claims mitigating the claims costs and any other enquires or requests should they arise. This should be completed by ensuring all relevant details are entered onto the reports in a detailed and concise manner.
  • As a member of the engineering team you are engaged, enthusiastic and talk openly with your fellow peers and managers alike in an open minded and professional manner with a proactive approach on an ongoing daily basis.
  • You prepare well for meetings including 121,s and contribute in a positive, open minded manner. Taking all feedback constructively.
  • Ensure audits on accidental damage and third party repairs and total loss settlements are completed on our external partners on a regular monthly basis. With actions identified and found reporting to your Team manager and Chief engineer with your results to aid the consistency within the approved repairer network.
  • You are confident as an Engineer and have all claims and technical skills needed for the role.
  • You contribute to projects which help to develop and further improve claims performance.
  • You continue to develop your knowledge, skills and experience. By keeping up to date with industry news and developments.
  • You receive positive feedback from colleagues including your Team Manager and Chief Engineer about your delivery and/or behaviour.
  • Your passion for customer service and desire to constantly improve the customer and claims experience is recognised throughout the business and you continuously assist other fellow team members to excel within their role.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required

Technical skills – Essential

  • Experience in a insurance based motor engineering role
  • Knowledge of motor Claims, particularly relating to vehicle damage solutions
  • Knowledge of vehicle construction, estimating and repair techniques, methods and solutions and salvage categorization
  • Knowledge of vehicle damage electronic estimating systems
  • Sound understanding of the FSC regulatory regime, FOS ethos and TCF initiatives
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills
  • High level of both verbal and numerical reasoning
  • Proficient in using IT word processing, database and spreadsheet packages

Technical skills – Desirable

  • Professional insurance, risk management or engineering qualification
