All cars must be 15 years old or less when cover starts and must not exceed a gross vehicle weight of 2,500kg, a length of 7m, a height of 3m and a width of 2.25m (including any load carried).

The black box does use power from the battery, but it needs very little charge (less than a car radio) and should not drain your battery as long as it is in good working order.
No – insurethebox does not provide cover for vehicles with modifications (other than by the manufacturer or for a disability). Please speak to one of our agents via Live Chat on Your Portal if you’re unsure whether a particular alteration to your car is classed as a modification.
No – your insurethebox private car policy does not cover you to drive other cars, other than a courtesy car provided to you under the insurethebox approved repairer scheme if your vehicle is damaged following an insured loss. Full details can be found in your Car Insurance Schedule on Your Portal.
Yes – you can do this by arranging separate insurethebox policies for each car. We will fit our black box to each vehicle for you and you can continue to receive a No Claim Discount against each car.
If you sell your car, we will switch off the box remotely so it no longer transmits data. We can remove the box if you or the new owner requests it.
If you buy a new car, you can transfer your cover onto the new vehicle and we can fit a new box. Please note: changing your car may result in an increase or decrease in premium.There is a £90 fee if you change your car. Fees will be subject to Insurance Premium Tax where applicable.
