Help Tag: Fitting the box
When you take out your policy with us or change your car, we will contact you within five working days to arrange a convenient appointment for a black box to be fitted. This will occur within 14 days of the start of your cover. We will usually arrange for the fitting to take place at either your home or place of work, between Monday and Friday.
This depends on the make and model of your car. In all cases the black box will be out of sight, will not affect the electrics in your car, and will take under an hour to install.
Yes – you will be insured to drive your car from the date your policy starts. Once the black box is fitted we will begin collecting driving data. However, we have a right to cancel the policy if we have been unable to fit the black box within 14 days from the date that you took out your insurance. Please see your policy documents for more details.
That’s fine -it can remain in place. If necessary we can fit the black box somewhere else within your car.
The black box does use power from the battery, but it needs very little charge (less than a car radio) and should not drain your battery as long as it is in good working order.
No – the box needs to be installed by our professional box fitter. We provide this service at no additional cost.

Yes you are insured from the moment the policy starts and you do not have to wait for the box to be fitted. However you must have a box fitted within 14 days of purchasing the policy, otherwise your policy will be cancelled.
No – the box can be fitted at a place of your choosing throughout the UK (except Northern Ireland, the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man, the Isle of Wight and the Scottish Islands). It needs to be a safe place for the fitter to work, but a relatively quiet road or open-air car park will normally be suitable.
