Road safety campaigns for those seeking first time car insurance

Road safety for new young drivers

Many road safety charities produce schemes and presentations to take into schools in an effort to educate the young drivers of the future about the dangers of reckless driving. Long before any of them have even contemplated taking a driving test or searching for first time car insurance they are told about fatal car crashes, the dangers of high speed and distracted driving, and how alcohol can play a part in causing accidents on the road.

Deadly Mates is a website aimed at encouraging safer driving among young people and getting young drivers to slow down in the car. The organisation has also toured schools with a theatre production entitled Deadly Mates to highlight the dangers of reckless driving.

For my Girlfriend or FMG is a campaign aimed at young male drivers who are at risk of killing or injuring others as a result of dangerous driving. Research undertaken in the Eastern regions of the UK revealed that female passengers are at greater risk of dying or being seriously injured in a car crash where there is a male young driver and, from this, the FMG campaign was launched to coincide with Valentine's day 2002, running annually ever since.

In Wales, the GoSafe campaign is a road safety partnership funded by a Welsh Government Grant. GoSafe is made up of the 22 Welsh Unitary Authorities, Welsh Government, four Welsh Police Forces and Her Majesty's Court Service. It also works closely with the NPHS and Fire Services in Wales, it targets all drivers but has special campaigns for young drivers.

Safety messages from telematics insurer insurethebox
One of the great benefits of having a telematics car insurance policy from insurethebox is that it can reward safe drivers by making their first time car insurance more affordable, and help to ensure that renewal premiums are kept as low as possible by taking into consideration the driver's road habits over the preceding year.

The telematics device, Clear Box, fitted to the insured driver's car at the outset of the policy, collects data about the vehicle's use and insurethebox analyses this information to offer valuable feedback via the policy holder's exclusive web portal.

The Clear Box has the added benefit of having accident alert capabilities, so parents of those seeking first time car insurance may be a little more assured that their child's insurer is looking out for them even when they can't.
