Low mileage car insurance from insurethebox and Top-Up Miles
Top-Up Miles - All you need to know
If you are a genuine low mileage driver you can get a really good deal on your car insurance with insurethebox. If you tell us you will be likely to drive 6,000 miles in the coming year, then we will use that figure to calculate the cost of your motor cover, but if you happen to do a few more miles than you told us you can simply buy Top-Up Miles to keep your motor cover up to date.
Top-Up Miles for low mileage car insurance with insurethebox
When calculating car insurance, the more miles a driver does the greater the risk of them being involved in a car accident and having to make a claim, so car insurance for genuine low mileage drivers should cost less because they are less of a risk.

Our clever little telematics device, known as a Clear Box, which is fitted inside your car when you take out an insurethebox policy counts the miles driven and sends the details to your PC through your Customer Portal. Each time you drive, the miles will be counted and you can clearly see how far you are driving. If you need more miles you can buy Top-Up Miles.
When you take out an insurethebox policy, you start by purchasing a certain amount of Base Miles, 6,000 to be exact, and we will give you a pence per mile rate which you use when you want to buy a Top-Up Miles bundle.
You can buy Top-Up Miles in bundles of 250, 500 or 1,000 miles, and you don't need to worry if you don't use your Top-Up Miles because you can roll them over to the following year.
If you buy 500 Top-Up Miles as you come to the end of your year's policy and only use 250 miles, when you buy your 6,000 mile car insurance renewal with insurethebox you will already have an additional 250 miles of cover to add to your new mileage.
