Top Up Miles for low mileage car insurance
When you take out an insurethebox policy, you start by buying a specific mileage package: 6,000, 8,000 or 10,000 miles. The clever little black box fitted to your car counts the miles driven to keep track of your policy mileage balance and sends the details to you through Your Portal.
How it works
With your mileage package we give you a cost per mile rate, which is the price you pay for your chosen Top Up Miles bundle, if you need additional miles. You can find the price of your Top Up Miles bundles on the Top Up Miles page of Your Portal.
You can buy Top Up Miles in bundles of 250, 500, 1,000 or 2,000 miles, and you can roll them over to the following year in case they’re not all used.
How to buy Top Up Miles
The easiest way to buy Top Up Miles is through Your Portal. Here’s how:
- Click ‘Top Up Miles’ on the top menu
- Choose how many Top Up Miles you want to buy (250, 500, 1,000 or 2,000), select the relevant bundle and buy.
- Tell us whether the card you’d like to pay with is registered to you. If it is, the transaction is easy – just follow the on-screen instructions. If it’s not, you (or the cardholder) will have to enter some additional details to make the payment.
- That’s it! Your Top Up Miles will automatically be added to your mileage total, which you can see on the homepage of the portal.
When your policy ends
If you buy 500 Top Up Miles as you come to the end of your year’s policy and only use 250 miles, when you get your car insurance renewal with insurethebox you’ll already have an additional 250 miles of cover to add to your new mileage.
Remember: you can’t roll over any Policy Miles or get a refund on remaining miles, if you don’t renew. If you exceed your Policy Miles and don’t buy Top Up Miles when required, your policy will be cancelled.
