Buckinghamshire County Council is holding a pre-driver event (“First Gear”) on 27 October for 16 and 17 year-olds preparing to learn to drive. It will be held at Aylesbury Vale Academy from 10am to 3pm.

The pre-driver event is being supported by a number of local driving instructors, Thames Valley Police, Perrys, Bucks Fire & Rescue Service and Trading Standards, collaborating to help support new drivers, giving them the information they need to stay safe on the road.

The event will feature a wide range of activities, including:

  • Getting your driving licence
  • Choosing the right driving instructor
  • Car insurance
  • First aid
  • Brake reactions
  • The theory and practical driving tests
  • Basic car maintenance
  • Buying a car for the first time

The car insurance section of the event will feature our very own Road Safety Manager, Simon Rewell, who will be talking about how telematics car insurance can help young drivers save money on their car insurance and be treated as an individual rather than being judged by their peers.
