The telematics insurer continues commitment to tackle young driver safety issues

Telematics insurance pioneer and road safety advocate, insurethebox has renewed their sponsorship with a South West based road safety partnership Learn2Live.

The sponsorship, which has spanned a near-decade, continues to fund a series of educational events involving real-life experiences and stories about the aftermath of severe collisions, targeted at 16-17-year-olds living in Devon and Cornwall. This year, to combat the insurgence of Covid-19, the presentations usually organised in a live theatre have gone virtual.

Instead of opting to postpone the event, until a time whereby it would be safe to conduct a live presentation, Learn2Live have found a digital solution – offering virtual sessions, accessible to all across a number of dates spanning October to November 2020.

Learn2Live have worked with local schools and colleges to build a new format for these events, reducing the length of the presentation to 45 minutes; to fit in with most lesson periods. The presentations will be released on YouTube and they will remain available for two weeks.

Nigel Flower, Safer Travel Strategy & Programme Officer at Devon County Council and Founder/Co-Organiser at Learn2Live, commented: “Despite the unexpected arrangements, schools and colleges have signed up in great numbers. Where possible, we continue to tell local stories so that the students know the roads or towns being spoken about. Thanks to our dedicated crew and speakers, we achieved great results and look forward to delivering the sessions virtually.”

“Whilst Devon County Council, Devon Air Ambulance, SWAST, Devon and Cornwall Police and all the family speakers make up this amazing team, namely Learn2Live, DSFRS are pivotal in organising all Learn2Live Road Safety events. We are extremely thankful to DSFRS and all of their 999 colleagues and friends for making this such a privilege and success – and to insurethebox for helping it come to life.”

Warren Hetz, the Commercial Director at Aioi Nissay Dowa, the parent company of insurethebox, added: ”We have supported the Learn2Live partnership since 2012, helping over 100,000 students with access to impactful road safety education. The post-event evaluations have displayed improved attitudes and behaviours amongst the students, which shows why it is important to support initiatives like this – to help change the young driver landscape for the better.”
